If you've heard about Jesus but still aren't quite sure what to think, this page is for you.
Understanding who Jesus is and what he has done is easiest if you understand the story of humanity.
Before time even began, God was. He spoke everything into existence and created everything from nothing. He created it all perfect. He created human beings and designed them to have a relationship with him and that relationship was perfect.
It's not hard to see that the perfection God created didn't stay that way. If we take 5 minutes to watch the news, we will see multiple examples of evil and sin. Our world is broken. We are broken. And it's all because of sin.
It's impossible for broken and imperfect beings to have a relationship with a perfect and Holy God and so God sent his son, Jesus to fix the brokenness of our world. Jesus lived a perfect life and then sacrificed it by dying on the cross. When he did this, he exchanged his perfection for our brokenness and paid the penalty for our sin. He conquered sin and death and paid the price once and for all.
When he rose again, our sin had been cancelled out and we are now able to re-enter the perfect relationship with God that he intended. Jesus allows humanity to be restored to the perfection that God intended by paying the price for their brokenness and sin.
We call this story the Gospel which comes from an ancient Greek word meaning "good news". It is the good news that God sent his only son to fix our brokenness and reestablish a perfect relationship.
